ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Camille Oxley, I am a senior at Lakeview High school in Battle Creek. I play three varsity sports Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball. I have been on the yearbook staff for three years. Before I joined the yearbook I felt like I didn’t belong anywhere. I was a super shy girl who had anxiety with interviewing and just talking to people in general. I always dread doing group work and would just rather work on my own. Little by little each day I gain confidence in myself. I began to develop a love for interviewing and writing stories about my fellow classmates and staff at my school.
After my first year being on staff my editor in chief nominated me to fill their spot as Editor and chief for the upcoming year. This was a huge opportunity and made me love the class and journalism even more. I became a leader for my newbies and had to keep them on top of their game, assisting them when needed and, revising to best I know it can be in order to get spread done on time before deadlines.
Looking back at these three amazing years I have been in this class I have gained so much. Yearbook has made me come out of my shell and make new friends that I can hold on to forever. It has taught me to be a leader to lead my class and to not be afraid to call people out when needed. Being an editor has helped me become the gateway to the journalist I am today. Hoping in college to pursue Sports media/journalism.
